Hello!
Welcome to the a2fblue Frosh bros discipleship Winter Break reading blog! Here, we can post our thoughts/insights/comments as we read Shadow of the Almighty by Elisabeth Eliot together. My hope and prayer is that we will all be challenged and inspired to love and serve God more as we read through the life of this amazing man of God!
Here's the general reading plan. The book is divided into 4 parts:
By Sun 1/03: Part I - Portland, Oregon, 1927-1945
By Wed 1/14: Part 2 - Wheaton, Illinois, 1945-1949
By Mon 1/19: Part 3 - Portland-Oklahoma-Wisconsin-Indiana-Illinois-Potland, 1949-1952
By Thurs 1/22: Part 4 - Ecuador, 1952-1956
The goal is to finish each part by the date. In order to keep each other accountable, the MINIMUM post requirement is 2 entries per part, but feel free to write as much as you would like! You can write a quick comment after each time you read and be sure to comment on each others' entry as well!
The comments can be about anything - reactions to a part that you read, quotes that stood out to you or impacted you in some way, ways that you're being challenged personally, etc. It can be about anything! I'm looking forward to hearing all the ways that God will speak to us through this book!
* And just a little added incentive, we'll keep our "accountability pot" going on this - 5 bucks for anyone who fails to make at least 2 posts after the dates posted above for each part =). The only exception will be Hubert, who will be in Cambodia on mission trip, so if you can't make it to a computer, it's understandable...everybody else (staff included), looking forward to your posts!!

ReplyDeleteOh dear... I'll be on retreat until the 4th. I haven't started the reading yet, and I have a therapy session going on tomorrow. I'll see what I can get with my poor reading skills by tomorrow, but I'll probably just end up having to pay.
